indiff.io is a search engine built for people who know their problem but don't know what to search for.
Most search engines is designed for product names and keywords. But when you’re struggling something, you don’t realize what to type. You just know what’s frustrating you.
Type your problem, your workaround, or both. Indiff finds products and services that actually solve it.
Indiff indexes products and services from the developer community, starting with projects shared on Hacker News. Each product is analyzed to understand what problems it solves and what workarounds it replaces. When you search, your query is matched against those problems — not product names or features, and popularity doesn't matter.
I started with the problem that validating a business idea is really difficult. There are a bunch of workarounds to validate an idea, but it's still hard to hear real customers' voices. I spent a year pivoting through ideas, and I realized that people often give up trying to find a solution that actually solves their problem. Combining these two problems, I built a search engine that lets you search for products by describing your problem. You can use the insights tab and no-results pages to validate whether people's needs are being met.
I really like how Indiff reranks by fit rather than popularity. The most relevant products appear at the top, even if they're not well known. Just build something great, and people will find it.
